Tammy Arp is the owner, instructor and coach of the

Beaverton Homeschool Debate and Speech Club.  

A trained paralegal (Oregon Institute of Technology), Tammy, after 7 years in law offices, left to devote

her time to raise a family with her husband, Glen, when their first child was born. She homeschooleded

their three children from grade school through high school, graduating all three onto successful college

programs and into young adulthood.  

Over the years, Tammy led 4H Speech Clubs and Readers Theater Groups teaching the fundamentals of public oration and performance.  Her 4H Speech Club  members participated in the speech contests at the Washington County Fair, most advancing to State competition.   Her Readers Theater groups performed for local assisted living homes and church functions.  

Then, seeking advance communication skills for the high school years, Tammy founded the Beaverton Homeschool Debate Club in 2009 to bring debate to Christian homeschoolers in Washington County. The club competed in the CCNW league for 7 years before launching a "no travel" club in 2015 to make debate more accessible to local families and to include competitive platform speeches and apologetics.

Tammy has been an active member of Toastmasters in Beaverton working through the Toastmaster's Advanced Communicator track.

Still a homeschooler at heart, even with grown children, Tammy has been active in the Christian homeschooling support community for over 20 years.

She now provides private homeschool counseling and after-school tutoring. She teaches core subjects to school age children, focusing on ESL, phonics, reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics, with delight-directed thematic literature units providing science and history.

Tammy is a member at Southwest Hills Baptist Church and a committed Christ follower seeking to glorify Christ in all endeavors.  I feel burdened to help parents help their children acquire  strong communication skills, logical thinking, and a solid Christian worldview so they may share His Truths to an unbelieving world.
